We used the more traditional RFID type system based on a philips radio tag.
The trouble with ibutton is that they are easy for someone to do what is called a man in the middle attack where someone monitors the data sent over a network and because its static,i.e the data doesnt change over time from individual tags its easy to replay the data at a later date and pose as the authorised party.
