The Dallas doc I have goes through all the questions you have asked. Have you read all the available doc from Dallas (Maxim)?

In answer to your question 'how do you determine what device caused the reset?' - the Dallas doc describes an algorithm that you use to isolate the address of the device. From this you have the address and then can access it as per normal.
