#79304 - RE: Determining qualified scorers Responding to: ???'s previous message |
"I actually thought about this but the problem I ran into is how to determine whether someone is qualified to pass judgement on a contribution? If someone can propose a solution to this I'd be anxious to hear it."
Now that everyone has to register you could create an optional multiple choice coding/8051 general knowledge test. If a member takes and passes the test you could flag their name on posts or in their user profile as 'expert' or some such. Others would them have a reasonable idea whether posts or comments made by that member are likely to be useful. If they don't take the test (or fail it..) their status remains 'untested' or 'unverified'. I think that allowing people to comment on code in the library is a much better idea than allowing them to anonymously score it. You should be able to tell from the phrasing of a comment whether the poster has a clue or not. The comment area would be a good place to point out any bugs in the code. How about this: Anybody can comment on code. If they haven't passed the test it will be clear to others that they are a novice and the comment should be treated carefully. Only those who have passed the test can place scores on posts. That should reduce the number of spurious scores and make the scoring system a useful guide for novices. |
