I looked at this one: http://www.discovercircuits.com/PDF-FILES.../acdc1.pdf "This circuit uses a novel approach to produce a fully isolated and regulated 5 volts @30ma from the 120vac power line ... A very common 8 ohm audio impedance matching transformer can be used for the transformer." While this might be all fine under normal conditions, I wouldn't like to trust it in the event of a fault - I very much doubt that the audio transformer would survive even a few full cycles of 120VAC... Mains transformers are cheap - why take the risk?! |
