FlashMagic works in full duplex and thus you can NOT ISP with 485. Of course, should you be so inclined, you can always write your own IAP code.


What flashmagic has got to do with this accidental 'U' being received by a micro which has just turned on and is trying to auto baud and accidentally get an 'U' on its UART and enters ISP mode. When trying to autobaud the micro doesn't know it is connected to RS485 or RS232, It is simply waiting for an 'U' to be recieved and upon getting this 'U' it simply enters ISP mode.
