#82470 - bus direction Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The control signals are another matter.
The problem is turning the bus in the 485 transceiver attached to the uC. You can, of course do something “smart” with Tx and a capacitor, but that will only work if you are not running very fast (my app run 460kbaud). Also, if you do not have a noisy environment and run reasonably slow, you can run quite fast in a J1708 configuration, however I am exposed to more noise than Carter has liver pills. All this is, of course, possible if you incorporate a few switches, but then my NoTouch becomes a joke. What I need/want/hope for is an setup that allow an instruction to the field: plug your laptop in, press “run”, wait for ready, unplug laptop, which is easy to do with a full duplex setup. However my cables/plugs are so long/many that switching to full duplex (one more twisted pair, larger connectors), just for ISP, is not economically feasible. Erik |
