FlashMagic works in full duplex and thus you can NOT ISP with 485.

Flash Magic has a half-duplex option that allows it to be used on RS485 if you are careful. Basically Flash Magic transmits a single character and then waits for that character to be echoed. What it doesn't do is avoid starting transmission if anything else is transmitting. It also doesn't handle control signals, etc.
