#83818 - Any soft way?
Responding to: ???'s previous message
You all are suggesting some form of restriction, but this may perhaps threaten newbies to ask.
Or do you want to keep this forum a gathering of highly skilled and seasoned professionals, all agreeing each other, discussing highly sophisticated and "esoteric" problems?
Newbies have newbie-questions, sometimes stupid, sometimes amazing. And, what intrigues all of us (yes, me too!) the questions are vague, unspecific. Yes, but often, if they would know what to ask, they would not need to ask. And often is this with the school projects- imagine a somewhat "sadist" professor, giving out complicated tasks (vector display is not trivial, although inspirative) and giving no clue. The guys did exactly what we try to teach them - they searched the internet and tried to get the information the easiest way - they ask (although in an offensive/aggressive way).
Yes, they should have read the bible first, but face it - did you all find it simple and clear at the first reading, and did it really answer your questions?
And do you think it is easy for us, not native english speakers, to understand, or even to read through the oficial rules? They are lengthy and hard to understand!

My suggestion is to write a mini-rules, in a very short and simple way (possibly in points) explaining, how to post, stressing, that better post more than less (and mentioning the bible). And finish it like this: "please come back with a detailed question in this very thread". And, if unspecific qustion occurs, somebody will post a link to this mini-rules (or directly insert them) together with giving a "-" for unspecific/vague; which is a signal, that nobody answers until the original poster comes with the details. This perhaps may be also enforced by the website software.

It's Christmas, time to be generous!

PS. I got the mail too, but answered him exactly what I said here: "come back with more details".
