#83833 - Re: Soft way
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Dear Jan,

Thanks a lot for your comments and sugegstions.

Kindly Note: WE -> All of us including me & Jan.

You all are suggesting some form of restriction, but this may perhaps threaten newbies to ask. Or do you want to keep this forum a gathering of highly skilled and seasoned professionals, all agreeing each other, discussing highly sophisticated and "esoteric" problems?

I dont think we are planning to put any restrictions I believe the forum people never distinuguished among newbie and professionals. I remember I too was a newbie when I joined the forum and used to get good support from kind forum members.

Newbies have newbie-questions, sometimes stupid, sometimes amazing. And, what intrigues all of us (yes, me too!) the questions are vague, unspecific.

We dont have problems with questions being very simple, stupid or amazing. All sort of 8051 related problems are welcome here even if they are very simple or stupid. What we want is the person asking for help must provide sufficient details about the problem he is facing, doing so will help us understand the exact problem and we will be able to give pin point solutions. Certainly such answers will help the person asking here too.

The message database available for searching and reading is a very good source of information. Believe me its so rich if you type any keyword related to 8051 related you will get loads of good useful information. Not just 8051 it has lots of useful information regarding other related issues such as Noise, PCB designs, Interface buses etc. If we promot such questions with insufficient information regarding the problem than very soon we will have a huge number of such silly posts in the database and when searched we will get lesser number of usefull messages and more number of annoying 1 line silly posts.

If the person asking for help doesn't even care to spend 10 minutes typing his problem properly. Why should we care answering such a question.

And often is this with the school projects- imagine a somewhat "sadist" professor, giving out complicated tasks (vector display is not trivial, although inspirative) and giving no clue. The guys did exactly what we try to teach them - they searched the internet and tried to get the information the easiest way - they ask (although in an offensive/aggressive way).

I agree we all had such professors when we were students. What we want is the student asking for help must describe the problem with all possible details. If they are asked to search the forum database they must do it there is no point in duplicating the same things again and again. Why do they ask in an offensive/aggresive way? They ask because some of us do entertain such offensive aggresive posts. If we stop replying offensive posts people will stop sending offensive posts thats sure.

Yes, they should have read the bible first, but face it - did you all find it simple and clear at the first reading, and did it really answer your questions?

Who says microcontrollers are easy to learn? One has to put good efforts to learn them. I agree at first reading bible wasnt simple and clear and I believe it was because I am a Mechanical Engineer. but what about the students they have text books they get lectures in colleges/schools they have laboratories to experiment the things, professors to ask questions. If someone really wants to learn 8051 things properly I believe there's no shortcut They have to read thier textbooks bible etc. Asking a question or two here doesn't mean they can do it without reading bible.

Merry Christmas to all the forum members.

Regards,
Prahlad Purohit
