#84138 - SW UART is not a taboo! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Resource consuming and not simple - yes, certainly. But unreliable??? It is as unreliable as badly written! There are applications, where it pays off to use a cheap and stupid chip with some extra programming; sometimes you simply cannot use the interal UART (e.g. for 5-bit used in tty, or for extremly slow baudrates with fast mcu). Maybe the majority of typical applications is better off using a dual-uart mcu or external uart, but it does not mean the sw uart is not an option. Jan Waclawek |
