#86792 - Special Information Tone - SIT Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Joseph Hebert said:
Have you ever dialed a number and gotten that three-tone signal, "buup-boop-beep," of three increasingly higher frequencies, just before the voice says "I'm sorry. The number you have reached has been disconnected or is no longer a working number." This tone sequence is known (at least in the UK) as the Special Information Tone, or "SIT" For the UK network, see the BT Supplier's Information Note SIN350: http://www.sinet.bt.com/350v1p2.pdf This includes the full specification of the frequencies, cadence, and amplitudes - so that you can get your TeleZapper just right! I should add that these tones are specifically defined as being generated by the network. Any generation of them by your own equipment is entirely at your own risk! |
