#87155 - Instant on? Responding to: ???'s previous message |

There is NANO-itx, I think the MB is 120 x 120 mm - and that, once again is everything. For when PC104 just isn't integrated enough. Also makes a great alternative to a laptop for a portable computer - I use one on site here, it fits in a case smaller than any laptop, and I just borrow a monitor when I need one - it costs less than 100 USD, I can afford to bin it when it breaks down. Very nice. But if this is an embedded application, are there any attractive solutions for "instant-on"? This is a great replacement for a laptop or that kind of thing, but if I want to turn the unit on and have it up and running in, say, a second or two, it seems that kind of rules out Windows or Linux unless there are some cool ways to make it power-up dang quick. I don't particularly trust "sleep" or "hibernate." Regards, Craig Steiner |
