That's not important.

The fact is, it uses an 8051 - so it's allowed.

Goes to show that, just cos you're stuck with using an AVR to run your code, doesn't mean you also have to use an AVR to get the code into the chip.
Or vice-versa.

If it was just an ordinary PROM programmer, it could be used to blow PROMs for 8051s or PROMs for anything else. Where's the difference.
