Nahhh, the system was made up of multiple boards, each board holding four Datel hybrid converters ($$$). The guy who designed the boards kept all of the grounds separate and brought them out to pins on a custom backplane (6U Eurocard, but not VME) and the grounds all had jumpers that would tie things together if necessary. I think we ended up connecting all of the grounds together right at the backplane where the power came in, and our end customers (astronomers) did not complain, so it must've been acceptable.
