#92230 - MSComm is for Comm Ports Responding to: ???'s previous message |
On your PC the MSComm feature for VB is to be used to communicate to COMM ports!!
Forget about trying to make anything work on the parallel port. Unless you have the experience to write a complete Windows 32-bit driver to the WDM specifications you will not be able to get this approach to work. Use a simple USB to RS232 adapter. At normal stores these can be had for about $25US. On eBay there are 100's of them available for around $1 to $2 US plus $7-8 shipping. These adapters come with the necessary Win32 driver. When the driver is properly installed the RS232 port of the adapter magically shows up as an additional COMM port in the device manager I/O ports list. At this point VB with MSCOMM can open that port and begin sending serial data through the adapter. Michael Karas |
