Clearly there is no simple answer to this! I think the better chips have an EEPROM which can be set by the driver so it becomes a unique device to the sytem and is always mounted at the same point no matter how it is attached. The newer PL2303 parts certainly have this and the earlier ones lacked it. Ian |
