#92258 - RS485 & USB->serial
Responding to: ???'s previous message
The beauty of chips like the prolific PL2303 and the FTDI devices is that they can handle the bus control of RS485 in the hardware without the software (application) ever having to know about it. The FTDI chip has a specific output and it works without any driver mods whereas the prolific devices needs the Advantech ADAM4561 driver to enable the bus direction output. You can still have timing problems with Windows - especially if you move a lot of windows as it fills up the message queue and slows things down.
