If the ISR code is so big that it takes longer than 256 machine cycles to complete
not quite complete.
If as you state - dead easy - it will fail every time

The real problem is if ISR(s) with (a total of) > 256 cycles happen concurrently it blows.

Such a bug will only show up every umpteen hours
