#99445 - apples and oranges
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I want to use isolated RS232 interface for programming my philips micro's with flashmagic.

You are referring to two Atmel solutions and ask about programming Philips chips. The first does not power steal, the second does.

I would have much hesitation using "power stealing" for a RS232 transciever (data sheet MAC3250 show 35 mA no load Icc), while it probably will work in some cases, My judgement is that it will not work in a worst case scenatio.

did you have a look at http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes....umber/1846 which actually may show what you need.

Erik

Ps I think this is ON topic
