White would make easier reading of the diffrent colored/marked TDC marks on the flywheel.
If white light is required and what I have seen about white LEDs (have no need to work with them, so have not "studied" the subject) is what I think, it seems that driving a white LED is more complicated that a regular LED. How about using a RGB LED and firing all 3 to get white light.
