Erik, ehm, wasn't that you who insisted that testing proves nothing? Why should be electronic and/or mechanical parts design different from software design?
The difference is that mechanical devices are not "multipath". You do not need to test a mechanical device like a connector for 4711 possible paths through a decision tree. However you can not (by reasonable means) test a piece of software for all timingas of every line of main coinciding with every timing of interrupts occurances. A connector will fail when hit by a sledgehammer regardless of whether that hit is 22ms or 47 hours after it was inserted. Erik |
