1. Kick out the transistors, now. Put the LEDs cathode to SDA (SCL), anode through a 3k3 resistor to Vcc (that's 1mA, you should see the LEDs glowing unless in direct sunlight :-) ) 2. Go for the huge delays so you can actually see the ones and zeroson th LEDs. Seconds are fine. There is nothing like maximum time for the master in I2C, you can almost stop. 3.
