#103110 - Be warned... Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I've got a flyback transformer running around 20kv output, and I'd like to run the output through a bunch of resisters to make a voltage divider circuit... Be warned, Jeff, what you try to do can be deadly dangerous!! When working with HV and potentials changing with 45kHz very strange things can happen: 1. Dangerous currents can flow through insulation materials, which loose their insulation properties! 2. Dangerous currents can flow via stray capacitance! 3. Dangerous currents can flow directly through the air, which becomes a conductor, when field strength increase up to about 1000V/mm. So, your HV can jump across a gap of 2cm!! 4. Dangerous currents can flow along the surface of good insulators, if there's some dirt, grease or humidty! So, be very careful to not hurt or kill you or others!!! Kai |
