#103123 - high voltages
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Before I got into 8051s, HV was my area of expertise.
I've been to many a teslathon; and in fact I have a
15KVA tesla coil system (read 15KVA, not 15Kv) in my garage right now. I always obey the one hand rule, etc. It is more likely I will slip and break my neck in the bathroom, than I will be shocked to death.

The reason I wanted to measure the output is because often
the flyback or ignition coil will short out internally and
output less than they are supposed too; this is especially true
with the marx; you never know when that HV kickback is going
to fry the flyback, etc.

Ultimately, the resistor network is the only thing I can even think of.

Some chips have some level of HV protection, around 15kv I believe; but I doubt the Maxim 8051s do...
