It would help if you used your terminology accurately!
What you describe is not RS232! My apologies if I have inadvertently misled anyone. I may be in error, after all I am human and humble . The system I described is one where software such as Hyper-terminal on a PC uses the Serial RS232C port to send some electrical signals down some copper wire. With a few bits and pieces in-between, these signals end up into several micro-controllers. These micro-controllers think they too are communicating using their serial port because their maker told them that they had a 'Full Duplex UART' and someone wrote intructions to use this hardware. These micros must have been tricked, because they use the same Baud rate, same number of bits, same number of stop bits, same parity, as the silly thing in the PC which thinks is communicating via the RS232C Port and they understand each other perfectly! Since I am told RS232 does not adequately describe the above method of communication AND the correct one has NOT been suggested, I hereby officially name this system of communication as : "M.I.N.E.S.T.R.O.N.E." or, should that be: "M.I.N.E.S.T.O.N.Y." Hmmmmmm, I wonder if I can patent this also. Dammmmmm, Its too late, it is now 'published'! Tony :) |
