#104176 - flamewars, episode 3
Responding to: ???'s previous message
We're all getting off on the wrong foot here. Lets start
over. Nobody here needs or probably wants a flamewar. I
was not intending to start a flamewar, if I was viewed as
having been insightful I apologize. I was simply pointing
out to to Donald/Darek that they should not freak out to
Erik or Andy's unpleasant reply, as this is just how they
are. I did not want a newcomer to this website/forum to be
discouraged right off the bat, as these two made me feel.

I have no problems with the knowledge Erik or Andy have.
Like I've always said, I do not have the time in my life
to ever "catch up" to them. They will always know much
more than I do.

With that being said, I am not the first, second, or tenth
person to object to the unpleasantness I feel when reading
a reply from them. When I come on to this forum, if I see
these two online, it makes me feel as if I am driving down
a 4 lane highway at night, doing 5mph under the limit, and
a cop is pacing me from behind, riding my ass, refusing to
pass. This is how these two make me feel.

I think that if we all concentrate on making this site more
about the technical knowledge and less about making it personal,
it will be much better. In order to do that, I ask these two
to simply NOT post something negative or degrading when they
feel too annoyed to post actual help. I have no problems
admitting I am wrong or asking for help, but when I just spent
6 hours trying to solve a problem in ASM, ask for help, and
one of these two reply basically "your too damn dumb to get
this", well... its pretty discouraging. View it as a personal
challenge, you know you know more than most of us. Consider
the challenge being to not rub it in or act annoyed when someone
else doesn't.
