Nobody has been tricked! Nowhere in the 8051 datasheet or "bible" does it mention RS232. A PC's COM port consists of a UART plus an RS232 transceiver - it's that transceiver that makes all the difference! An 8051 has only a UART - hence its RD and TD pins do not constitute an "RS232 port" (just as the PC's UART is not in itself an RS232 port). |
