better would be a comparator which allow you to set the hysteresis. The HC14s are excellent for non-critical apps, they are a whole lot better than a straight gate (I yse lots of them) but at the machine where you have the worst possible conditions, I would use a comparator with feedback to give it a hystersis of more than a HC14.
Erik Can I quickly ask something, can I use 74HC14 and pass channel A signal into it, and connect the output to uC, will this help to reduce noise and accurate counting of pulses. I am sorry that I may be trying to get to solution straight away without trying all solutions presented, but due to illness I am already running late on this project and want to move on, needless to say that trying all other techniques is high on my agenda. I would really appreciate any assistance. Regards James |
