a badly designed board (e.g. all 100nF bypass capacitors were neatly located in the top right corner of the board) I inherited had some reset problems with a 1232 (no surprise) and was "out there" in the 1000s.
This gave me a chance to do some investigating as to noise suspectability. Maxim (almost immune) Linear (similar to Maxim, a bit worse, but same within statistical limits) TI (OK but a bit worse than Maxim) Microchip (breathe and it resets) Now with "proper layout" (100 nF soldered directly across the supervisor) all worked flawlessly. The same is true for the same design with a new "approved" layout. The moment I saw the decouplings located as they were I had a professional do a new layout. Erik |
