I will like to know how can i get power from PC serial port?
The voltage and current requried to energies the target hardware is 5 Volt and 5 Miliamp Only. This circuit usually works: ![]() Take note: 78L05, 7805 or else are not suited due to the high idle current of these regulators! The electrolytic is for stability purpose and must not be omitted! This circuit assumes the obligatory 300R minimum source impedance of standard RS232 drivers. Due to manufacturing tolerances of the "strength" of outputs, which can be seen in different short circuit current specifications, for instance, it cannot be guaranteed that this circuit will always deliver your needed 5mA, though!
