If I want to use Usb to 485 then I have to use FT232 You don't have to use an FT232 - many other chips are available! You are, of course, free to choose to use an FT232! which is USB to RS232 No, it isn't. It's USB-to-asynchronous serial; "RS232" means "asynchronous serial using RS-232 levels"[1] http://www.ftdichip.com/FTProducts.htm#FT232R and then aganin RS232 TO TTL using MAX232 and again
MAX485 for TTL to RS485. Eh??? The FT232 gives you "TTL" outputs!! And second thing is that USB work in half Duplex (As per my knowlage) While this may be strictly true at the bit level, it is irrelevant at the application level - ie, at the level that concerns your use of it. [1] In fact, strictly, to call something "RS232" it has to be on the specified D-Type connector! And obey the other signal specs - such as slew rate, impedance, etc. |
