#130843 - Programming the PC Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Ellappan,
How you access a particular hardware port, or how you enumerate the available ports on a given PC for that matter, depends very much on which operating system you are running. If you are running Wondows 9x, NT, me, XP or whatever, then you will need to access the hardware port via a DCB (Data Control Block). You can look up information on doing so on a forum dedicated to such matters. And then, once you've regained your sanity, you can buy a SiLabs CP2102 UART to USB bridge and save yourself a whole heap of headache and trouble. If you're running DOS then it becomes a much simpler proposition, but I'm afraid it's been far too long since I've dealt with it to be of much help. So what operating system are you running? Joe |
