#132826 - problem in connecting 89c51rd2 to computer
i am using a 89c51rd2fn micro controller and interfacing it with a max232CPE with which i am connecting a COM port. i am following the simple circuit as given in the link by Jon Ledbetter's in the forum 8052 faqs under the serial communication questions: http://www.8052.com/users/jonled/RS232gd.pdf

i have connected the circuit similar to that given in the pdf. i am using 0.1uF,63V electrolytic capacitors! should i use 1 uF,63 volt electrolytic one? plz suggest what to use to connect to the 6 capacitors of max232cpe! i am using a 1uF 63V electrolytic capacitor as the bypass capacitor of the 89c51rd2fn. plz suggest if there is any fault in this connection.

are there any other connection that need to be modified?

when i am using the hyper terminal i am not getting any echo messages as given in the pdf! i am using a 11.0592 MHz crystal as the oscillator, what baud rate should i use!

i am also trying to connect the same through flash magic! i am getting an error message as "Unable to connect at the specified baud rate. try reducing the baud rate. reset the hardware into ISP mode again! i have used 14400, 12000, 9600, 4800, 2400 as baud rates and tried!

is there any change that needs to be done in the circuit? please suggest what should be done. i am a novice in this field and working on our college project!
