4) If mC is transmitting -> wrong baud rate, play with serial initialization. For example if your burden caps/crystal are interfering with normal oscilator cycle, you could get different clock frequency than those written on your crystal thus effectively changing your calculated baud rate to 'who knows what'.
The burden caps should ALWAYS be the specified size, that is not something to 'play with'. However, often someone get a hold of a 3rd overtone crystal and, with a '51, that will oscillate at 1/3 the stated frequency. Erik |
