If you scan properly, you can re-use the row pins and just add column pins.

60 column pins + 7 row pins = 67 pins

If your software is up to it, and your drivers are strong enough, then you can get by with equal numbers of row and column drivers.

21 = srqt (420)

21 + 21 = 42 pins.
