Erik doesn't like old circuitry
I have no problem with that when it is efficient I quote: "Multiplexing was in vogue when chips cost money .... YES, everything CAN be done with multiplexing, just so much more cumbersome and - in addition - harder on the LEDs shortening the lifetime of them." He's not happy with components old enough to have the paint dry and the price within reason. I quote: "today you can drive LEDs without multiplexing for $0.03 - $010 per LED see my suggested chips above" price within reason - $0.03 - $010 per LED paint dry - the ST2221A currently used is > 10 years old Erik |
