We produce here a multiplexed display (I - ehm - participated in its development (= asked me to fix those nasty problems when it was almost too late)) and also one much more perverse construction, and I can tell you there are really many unpleasant surprises on the way, unless you want a very basic design with one single color one intensity, static text. If you can afford the drivers - and note that if you don't purchase Erik's volume they might be a bit of higher price than he mentioned - it is most probably better to go that way...
