#133260 - FYI - Those are shell-sizes Responding to: ???'s previous message |
the 9-pin connector isn't a DB-anything, though many people erroneously call them that.
A, B, C, D, and E are different shell-sizes for the "D-shaped" connector series. The 'A' is the size commonly found, in generations past, as the game-port or MIDI connector. The 'B' size is commonly used for the parallel port connector, though it was, for many years, the "standard" RS-232 connector. The 'C' size was, long ago, used on PC Floppy Disk adapter cards, and the 'D' size was commonly used for SCSI cable connectors on SUN equipment. The 'E' is found on PC's today, used for the serial port connector (as a DE-9) and for the VGA (as a DE-15) though DEC gave that connector a different name which was subsequently popularized by SUN as well, as they use the same supplier. A lot of people don't care whether they use the correct nomenclature, and those often include component vendors, especially for the hobby market. RE |
