#135780 - Student Assignment
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Andy,

Depends on their criteria for evaluating your project:

If it's just to demonstrate that you can get an 8051 to do something, then you could be fine;

If it's an exercise in understanding the specific requirements of a security system, and implementing that with an 8051, you could be in for a hard time.

As you say, if the point of the assignement is just to demonstrate that he can make the 8051 work, then he should be okay. But even if the assignment isn't specifically to make a security system, but is to do something with the 8051 (as opposed to just making it work), then he could very easily find himself squarely behind the 8-ball.

I know when I did my senior r&d project in undergraduate school, the professors looked for a whole lot more than just getting the right wires to the right pins. They didn't just want to see that you could make a part work, but that you could actually use it proficiently. Whatever the project, they very much graded the whole design, and they specifically tried to make the design fail.

On the other hand, I don't know what Eugene's professors want.
