As I understand it, the AVR32 is aimed to compete with the ARM9 (or greater) in applications with pretty heavy DSP - like MP3 players and suchlike.
So it's probably not a "natural" choice for this application. However, if Atmel are pricing it agressively to gain market share, maybe you can take advantage of that...! Remember that it's a single-source, proprietary architecture, though, pretty new (maybe read "unproven") - and be sure to check the tool support... I have no idea whether such things may be of concern to you or your application - only you know that! |
