#147809 - this does not make any sense
Responding to: ???'s previous message
So what happens if you use a reset supervisor like the Microchip MCP101 that has a totem-pole output (as best I can tell)?

A series resistor is the solution I will be prototyping

This does not make any sense, why will you be prototyping with the wrong kind pf supervisor, there are plenty of OC types available. I could see this for a "quickie one off", but not for a prototype,

If the micros reset pin had totem-pole output (I know of none), then, of course, the resistor would be the solution.
