#147888 - I have given up to convince you

Stories like, "We've received no complaints about our circuit since we started using a supervisor," while interesting, are not conclusive evidence that the "problem" was repaired by the installation of the supervisor IC.

I don't need to tell you such stories, and I have entirely given up to ever convince you of my point-of-view. All I do is to follow the recommendations given by the manufacturer in this application note

http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resou...oc4183.pdf

which clearly states, that omitting a brown-out detector can result in a corruption of flash code memory content. So, as I'm a dear little boy I add this brown-out detector and - am off the hook!

One thing that I find interesting is that these seem to be concentrated among ATMEL MCU's.

Oh no, please, Richard, don't do this. I remember very well the dozens of erratas from Intel and Philips also discussing this issue and recommending the strangest cures, everything to prevent the code memory from being corrupted during improper reset-conditions. No, that's not at all an issue of ATMEL's MCUs alone!
