#148288 - Price issue Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Dear shahryar, If your target market are poor people then you should be very careful about your price. while One laptop per child project(http://laptop.org) is an admirable project it may not survive on its own without subsidies of governments, because for poor children of africa even 100$ is a lot of money. another question is usability of the device. OLPC project is very well in this regard it provides all the benefits of internet, all linux applications, word processors, spread sheets ,.., even games all can be run with this OLPC, even it provides children with a local net, and it has many lovely benefits. I don't know what applications your computer will be able to run but it seems that it is a lot more limited than OLPC. So 100$ target price seems high to me on the other hand the project should be viable. Have you contacted government and NGOs for financial help?
