For a one-of-50 random number generator I would use a software ring counter running at around 20 MHz. Stop it with a button push and display the number.

But I am told that a mathamatical solution called "Chi Squared" will give me a true-er random number result.

Any comments on this?

Has anyone seen an 8051 assembly program that implements the Chi method? I would like to see one to see what all of the fuss is about.
