#148642 - Random is Responding to: ???'s previous message |
A random system is...
Quite simply any system who's future state cannot be predicted from observation of its past and present states. I'd be hard pressed to come up with a better definition. And since we live is a universe that is governed by, and subject to, the physical laws, including causality, I have serious doubts if there truely is any such thing as a random system or process. Even our best contrivances, seeking to achieve true randomness, appear upon closer inspection to be merely highly chaotic (e.g. the lotto/bingo ball picker, or dice, or coin tossing, or ...).
