#26413 - RE: Debugging Login Problems |
Thanks for both of your messages. This is getting very, very strange. This last change should have worked and the fact that it didn't really seems to point to a bug in the browser.
I did some investigation and found more details on the cookie bugs of Internet Explorer. They were supposedly in version 4.x of the browser, but perhaps they exist in some form in later versions. I've made yet another modification to the website code to take special action when it detects an IE browser. Hopefully this action will get around the cookie bugs in IE. Please keep trying both logging in normally and, if that doesn't work, please try logging in using the test login page. Also, please recheck your clocks and UTC offsets. This has something to do with cookies expiring before the date/time I ask them to expire--lacking bugs in the browsers, an incorrect time or UTC offset is my next best guess. I've rewritten code so that the cookies are expired by the server based on the server time rather than depending on the client; that's why I'm surprised the problem still exists. Oh, and it would be worthwhile to exit your browser, erase all your cookies (or at least 8052.com cookies) and start fresh to make sure no residual data is causing a problem. Thanks, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
