I am sorry to say "NOT SOLVED" yet.

I just read your post and tried again.

1) I deleted all cookies of IE5
2) I checked my time settings.
3) I tried to login on first page and succeeded.
4) When I clicked "Message Board", I was logged out on messaage board thread list.
5) I again tried on this page and succeeded.
6) Then I clicked this thread "Debugging Login Problems"
7) I was logged out on this page.
8) I tried again on this thread, and to my wonder,instead of logging in on this page (success or failure) it took me again to message board main thread list.


Could this help you?

The only problem is with Win98SE + IE5 and OPERA as well. Netscape works fine.
