So login problem got solved. But message forum refresh problem still exists.

And it is exactly as you understood it. No difference.

My just above post (02:57 time) took me to main index, where i noted that no of posts have increased and time for last post is 2:57

But when I clicked the thread again, I did not see my post and had to refresh.

This seems a problem with IE5 settings. I think it immediately shows the page from cache, instead of re-loading from website.

This refreshing problem does not occur on Netscape (at least to me :-)
