Thats good, you are able to reproduce the login problem using IE5. I hope now you will be able to find the root cause.

I think the message forum not refreshing occurs only if login does not work (i.e.using IE5)

I haven't observed "message forum refreshing" problem in Netscape, since I can always successfully login using Netscape.
