Two things...

First, I too, find the SMS abbreviations particularly offensive. We go to the effort of responding to questions and the SMS'ers are making us go through the extra work of interpreting this silly stuff. These folks must write incomprehensible code if everything has SMS-isms! My recommendation is for posters to type in the "Message Text" box the same way they would speak it. Maybe posts need to pass through an SMS filter that either rejects posts summarily or translates this crap into natural language.

Secondly, I wonder about a variation on Gil's comments. That is to have something like some e-mail support auto-responders I've encountered. You send a question and get sent back an automated reply, part of which contains the results of a "search" based on words in your question. So instead of Erik, Andy, etc., having to say "Have you tried using Search", the search is performed for the poster, then if the poster clicks the button indicating that their question still isn't resolved, the question is forwarded to the Forum.

This would be quite a reward for Craig after 5 years of service -- having to do more work for those who won't do it themselves!
